Od 11. do 13. listopada, povjerenik za energetiku Kadri Simson (na slici) will be in China, in particular to participate in the 11th EU-China Energy Dialogue in Beijing with the Director National Energy Administration Zhang Jianhua. They will exchange views on the global energy situation and energy security and both sides’ efforts to advance the clean energy transition.

China is a key partner in global decarbonisation. Being jointly responsible for one third of the world’s final energy consumption, the EU and China share common interests and goals for pursuing the clean energy transition with a view to successfully implementing the Paris Agreement. This important meeting comes just a few weeks ahead of the UN Climate Conference COP28 in Dubai and builds on decades of co-operation in the energy field. The Energetski dijalog između EU i Kine osnovana je 1994., a produbljena je i intenzivirana zajedničkom izjavom o provedbi suradnje EU-a i Kine iz 2019.

Tijekom posjeta Pekingu u srijedu (11. listopada), povjerenik Simson will deliver a speech and meet professors at the North China Electric Power University. On Thursday (12 October) following the Energy Dialogue with the Director of the National Energy Administration, Zhang Jianhua, the Commissioner will deliver a keynote speech at the EU-China Energy Cooperation Platform’s flagship project “Investment and Technologies Planning for Net-Zero Carbon Infrastructure.” Moreover, on that day, she will meet with EU and China business representatives. On Friday (13 October), the Commissioner will meet with representatives from the Huadian Group and visit in Tianjin the world’s largest solar, salt and shrimp power station, which combines solar energy with salt production and shrimp farming.
